Emerging Technologies Governance Lead, MD

The Emerging Technologies Governance Lead will establish and lead emerging technologies governance, commensurate with evolving risk profile, global footprint and corporate and regulatory expectations. The role supports State Street's strategic objectives to prioritize risk excellence and deliver innovative solutions in a safe and sound manner.
The Emerging Technologies Governance Lead is a strategic role and will be engaged across all aspects of risk measurement, product development and risk mitigation for innovative technologies, in partnership with global business units and lines of defense. This unique role requires in-depth understanding of globally emerging risks and proven abilities to adapt governance best practices in an evolving regulatory environment.
Experience with assurance over some of the following is desirable:
• Artificial Intelligence and Generative Artificial Intelligence
• Tokenization
• Distributed Ledger Technology
• Cloud computing
• Application of global evolving regulations for Information Technology
• Industry standards (e.g., NIST, FFIEC)

What you will be responsible for
As the Emerging Technologies Governance Lead you will:
• Establish, oversee and manage first line governance responsibilities for each new emerging technology
• Provide independent risk oversight and challenge, engage in due diligence, risk assessments and design appropriate controls
• Maintain central governance activities such as inventories of use cases, identification of regulatory requirements, establishment and implementation of initial standards and assurance frameworks
• Maintain accountability and collaborate across lines of defense to design, implement and monitor a control environment that effectively mitigates key risks inherent to emerging technologies and be a catalyst for positive change and continuous improvement
• Become a subject matter expert on corporate program requirements, regulatory expectations and industry best practices and support as well as monitor compliance across the emerging technology implementations
• Develop and execute on plans to transition emerging technology governance and risk management into business as usual state, as adoptions of each technology matures - creating bandwidth for the team to continuously focus on new risk areas
• Manage a variety of key deliverables, as needed, overseeing global adoption of relevant controls and best practices
• Develop and manage relationships across State Street to influence collaboration and strategic execution
• Champion increased understanding of emerging technologies company-wide
• Support interpretation and application of evolving industry best practices and regulatory guidance
• Lead responses to regulatory inquiries focused on emerging technologies
• Be an outstanding communicator and represent State Street at industry events, and act as an ambassador for State Street
• Influence industry development of emerging technologies assurance practices and maintain an external network
• Demonstrate a risk excellent tone at the top and manage talent development
Education & Preferred Qualifications
• Minimum 10 years of professional experience, including with financial services and a strong history of results driven strategic execution
• 7+ years of experience in assurance, technology, evolving regulation, FinTech or RegTech
• Management consulting experience a plus
• Exceptional organizational and multi-tasking capability
• Excellent presentation, communications and influencing skills
• Proven ability to build collaborative relationships with internal and external partners and stakeholders
• Entrepreneurial attitude, with experience in fast-paced corporate environments a plus
• Experience with building and managing globally distributed teams
Salary Range:
$170,000 - $267,500 Annual
The range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
